 Henry Fuseli, The Nightmare, 1781 One of my favourites, I first came across this painting researching my Vampire Poetry compilation. Energetically, this painting is a cross between the 8 and 9 of swords for me - bound, but not bound - a nightmare ... or a longing? Certainly a shadow. People are complicated. If she is about to go through a metamorphosis or transformation, this could also be akin to the Death card. As far as herbs go, what is her personality like? Is she Belladonna during the day (the demon being her own inner-beast) or is she Poison Hemlock - trapped by womanhood, motherhood, and needing release.
